She moved to Knox County in 1904. She married Onie W. Welch on 7 February 1917 in Benjamin, Texas. Mae Welch was a member of the Munday Church of Christ.
Survived by her husband; three daughters - Winnie Mae Bailey, Erna Lee Horen, Joyce Scott; one son - Leonard Welch; three sisters - Laura Cash, Lavada West, Audie Richardson; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
