Elederly Resident Of Second Peninsula Passes -

Lunenburg, May 22 - An old landmark passed away last evening after a short illness, on the homestead at Second Peninsula, where he was born and dwelt all his life, in the person of George Acker, at the age of eighty-eight
years. Mr. Acker was the son of the late George and Mary Acker, Second Peninsula, and he comes from a family noted for their longevity, having had a sister, the late Mrs. Samuel Herman, who passed the century mark. Until his last illness Mr. Acker was remarkably bright and active, and was able to work about his farm. He was the last surviving son of a family of thirteen children, and he is survivied by one son, Harry Acker, on the old homestead, and a daughter, Miss Amy Acker, Lunenburg; also three grandchildren, one of whom is the fifth George Acker to be born and lived on the homestead. His funeral takes place Friday afternoon at 2:30, the services to be conducted by Rev. H. Stanley Bland of Central United Church, Lunenburg.

With thanks to Richard Noble.
