Kermit was born July 2, 1939, in Welling, and had lived in McAlester for the past 61 years. He graduated from McAlester High School in 1958. As a youngster he worked for his dad, W. D. "Bill" Jones at OK Rubber Welders, capping and re-treading tires. Later he owned and operated Grand Liquor Store for a number of years and then owned Knight Time Video until his retirement in 1993. He married Donna Lea Williams on Sept. 2, 1966, in Welling. His favorite pastime was playing golf and he was one of the regulars at Thundercreek Golf Course. He was of the Baptist faith. He passed away at his home at the age of 71. Survivors include his wife, Donna Knight, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Toni and Nicholas Sneed, of Oklahoma City, and Julie and Darren Newsum, of McAlester; one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Kelly Knight, of McAlester; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, W. D. "Bill" and Maude Jones, and his grandparents. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011 at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Tom Roberts officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
