Thelma S. Slaybaugh, 100, formerly of Murphysboro, Illinois, passed away at 6:15 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012, at the Heritage Manor in Canton, Texas.

TENTATIVE funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2012, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rick Sutton officiating and burial at Glenn Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Glenn Cemetery or the First Christian Church. Thelma was born on November 29, 1911, in Jacob, Illinois, to Fred Saul and Edna (Grosvenor) Saul.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Slaybaugh was a member of the First Christian Church in Murphysboro and a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class at the church, a member of the Garden Club, St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, Jackson County Nursing Home Auxiliary, and the Murphysboro Senior Citizens.

Thelma married Alfred Hamer Ingram on November 19, 1936, in Murphysboro, Illinois, and he preceded her in death in 1941. She married Paul F. Slaybaugh on May 12, 1949, in Corinth, Mississippi, and he preceded her in death on August 21, 1995.

She is survived by son Richard Saul Ingram and his wife Dolores Ingram of Canton, TX and step-son Charles Slaybaugh and his wife Carol Slaybaugh of O'Fallon, MO;

five grandchildren, and several great grandchildren;

one sister Edna Todd and her husband Bill Todd of Stafford, VA;

one brother Cecil Saul and his wife Neuie Saul of Longview, TX;

one sister in law Cliffogene "Poochie" Saul of Beaumont, TX:

eight nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers Herbert and Kenneth Saul, two sisters Anna Clendenin and Grace Stevenson; and her parents.
