Mrs. Minnie S. Schwerin, 72, who resided here in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Verne Bromley, 137 Forest Avenue, died Friday at 3:20 a.m. at an Independence, IA hospital of a heart ailment.
A native of Chicago, Mrs. Schwerin was born February 21, 1879 near Sumner, a daughter of Jacob and Maria Behrens. She was married February 20, 1902 to Henry J. Schwerin.
The couple farmed in the Sumner community many years. Mrs. Schwerin came to Waterloo in 1938. She was a member of Trinity American Lutheran church, its Ladies' Aid society and Missionary society.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Bromley, with whom she resided, Miss Hulda Scherwin of 1015 Birch Avenue, Mrs. R. H. Conrad, 820 Maxwell Street, Mrs. A. L. Thode, Route 4 Cedar Falls, and Mrs. Earl Sullivan, 1316 Forest Avenue.
There are three sons, Henry of Flanigan, Ill., Reinhart of Sumner, Ia., and Herbert Schwerin of Waverly, and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1927; two sons, one brother, and one sister.
