ROCKPORT - Florence W. Bickford, 79, died unexpectedly, Friday, September 26, 2008 at her home in Rockport. Born in Jonesport, January 16, 1929, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Irene Harmon Woodward. She began her education in Jonesport, moving to Rockland in September of 1943. She was a 1946 graduate of Rockland High School. On September 4, 1949 she married Laurence Bickford. The couple made their home in the Rockland area before moving to West Rockport in 1964.
Mrs. Bickford worked for 15 years with W.T. Grant and J.C. Penny, retiring from Penny's in 1991.
She greatly enjoyed knitting, sewing, crafts, metal detecting and camping with her family.

Predeceased by her husband in 2004 and a brother-in-law Roy Bickford, she is survived by her two sons, Kenneth L. Bickford and his companion Jeannie Willwerth of Rockland, Paul A. Bickford and his fiancée Lori Farrington of Rockport; four grandchildren Josh Bickford and his fiancée Jamie Munro of Rockland, Greg Bickford and his companion Kristina Ceccola of Rockland, Ashley and Payton Bickford of Rockland; two great-grandchildren, Hanna and Ryan Bickford both of Rockland; a sister-in-law Beatrice Bickford of Florida; and a nephew Kelvin Bickford of Florida and his daughter Krista of Rockport.
