Born November 1, 1921 in Wausau, Wisconsin, Shirley is the daughter of the late Esther Randall Schneck and Anton Schneck.
She is preceded in death by her loving first husband USAF Major Albert Walter Stravinsky and second loving husband USA Major Andrew Michael Gidusko.
Shirley is survived by five children and a stepson: Kathy "Shirley" Powers, Marilyn Batts and husband Charles, Carol Stravinsky Kern, Janet Stravinsky Filbin, Bob Stravinsky and wife Janet, Andrew Gidusko Jr. and wife Patricia. She was the proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren, including the late Edward "Eddie" Carter, and nine great grandchildren. She is also the sister of Anthony Schneck and wife Ruth, James Schneck and wife Betty, and the late Jessica Schneck Olson and husband Walter as well as aunt to many loving nieces and nephews.
Shirley loved all children and enjoyed a career as a teacher at the Cerebral Palsy Center. Her interests included gardening, playing bridge with her friends, dancing, traveling, reading and shopping. Shirley was a spunky, beloved presence in the lives of all she knew and will be greatly missed.
Services will be held at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas this fall where she will be united with her first husband. Shirley's family would like to extend a special thank you to her friends and neighbors who embraced and loved our "Grandma G" . Our family has been touched by the love and compassion you shared for her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her favorite organization, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
