In recent family genealogy, I have found the following information that led me to finally finding Cyrus after a more than 20 years of searching for him!
Here is the data I found about him:" Cyrus was met with an accidental death while helping draw hay when visiting Michigan. He failed to stoop as the wagon went into the barn and his head hit the beam."
As it was a "freak accident" I thought there must have been a mention in a paper about his death in Michigan as well as New York state.
This is what was in the paper in N.Y. , dated July 16, 1881 about it: " Cyrus G. Bailey, a well to do farmer of the town of Burns, was injured at New Haven, Mich., on Wednesday, July 6th and died the next day.
He was on a visit to friends in that place and was assisting to draw in hay and was struck on the neck by the beam over the doorway of the barn.
Either way, it was a very sad accident and left his young wife and two small children back in New York state.
