Devoted mother, daughter, wife, grandmother, sister and friend.

Ruth was born May 11, 1957 to Arquilla and Ruth Jackson. Receiving her secondary education in the Los Angeles Unified School District, Ruth worked hard to excel and furthered her education, graduating from Compton Community College with an Associates Degree. She went on to earn her Bachelor's from California State University at Dominguez Hills, and her Master's and Doctorate degrees at the University of Phoenix.

A longtime employee of Compton Community College in Compton, California, Ruth began her employment there as a senior clerk typist, was promoted to Secretary to the Board of Trustees and later, to Director of AmeriCorps, managing that program along with the Upward Bound, Healthy Families and Foster Youth programs.

Ruth was a licensed missionary for the Church of God in Christ and attended Chapel of Peace Church for many years. She loved gospel music and had a beautiful, strong voice. She loved to praise God!

Diagnosed with cancer in 2007, Ruth succumbed to the illness in December 2010 at the age of 53 years.

She leaves to mourn her passing three children: Reggie, Camille and Ashley, her mother, sisters, brothers, and many other relatives and friends.

She was an inspiration to many women, old and young alike.
