Alec's father was Daniel Bratcher, born c. 1860, place unknown, died after 1900 census. His mother's name probably was Mary, maiden name and birth place unknown, died before 1900 census. His stepmother was Sarah, born c. 1878, maiden name and birth place unknown, died after 1900 census. His father MAY have been the Daniel E. Bratcher who worked as a laborer on the farm of Harry Wilson in Williamsburg County, SC, in 1880.

Please treat with great suspicion any family tree that links supposed parents to Alec. I am his grandson, and I have seen such trees. No one in my family has any faith in them. Another Alexander W. Bratcher, of about the same age, lived in Georgia. I spoke with a son of his in 1975. We could not make any connection between the two AWBs, and they definitely were not the same man. --Roger Lambert
-------
Note: When he was buried, the family placed an estimated birth date on his tombstone. Later, April 10, 1883, was found on his World War I Draft Registration Card. On his daughter Sarah's birth certificate, he is said to have been born in Williamsburg County, SC; I consider that birth place likely but not absolutely reliable. --Roger Lambert, grandson
