Myrtle was the sweetest person you could ever meet. She never met a stranger, and if she did, you weren't a stranger for long! She was very active in her church and volunteer work, never seeming to tire of either. She had worked, and worked hard, most all of her life until she retired.

She had more than her share of hard times. When she divorced her first husband, she raised all 6 children. Around 1980, she lost her 3 sons, Michael, Jerry and Roger Babbott and 2 grandchildren, Little Michael and Andrea Babbott to a horrible auto accident. I know she never got over this great loss, yet she seemed to move on as best she could with a smile on her face. She was very soft spoken and one to avoid confrontations, but she could be as tough as nails when she needed to be.

When Lonnie got sick she did her very best to take great care of him until his passing in 1999. He could often be a real pain sometimes but she took it all in stride and I never once heard her complain.

I dated her step-son in late 1979 & early 1980. The friendship between Myrtle and myself never waned, even when I had moved on from the relationship with Ronnie. She watched me grow up from a teenager to the grandmother I am today. She had been a great friend through the years and one that can never be replaced. I will forever miss her phone calls, her sense of humor, her warm hugs and her wonderful smile. She will truly be missed.
