CAMERON — Services for Barbara Mondrik Newman, 71, of Plano are 10 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church in Garland.

Mrs. Newman died Sunday, Dec. 26.

She was born Jan. 20, 1939, in Cameron to Lincoln and Angeline Mondrik. She was a 1956 graduate of C.H. Yoe High School in Cameron and received a business degree from North Texas State College in 1960. She taught at Bryan Adams High School in Dallas and taught typing at Rutherford Business College in Dallas. She also worked as an executive secretary at Republic National Bank in Dallas and as a manager in an orthodontics office for Dr. Mark Geller for more than 30 years. She was a member of Richardson Jaycees and Jaycettes and Kissin Kuzzines Square Dance Club of Garland.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Newman; two daughters, Lori Lazarine and Deann Hancock; two brothers, Joseph L. Mondrik and Albert Frank Mondrik; and four grandchildren.

A grandson preceded her in death.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at Restland Funeral Home.
