She was born September 17, 1933 in Timberville, and was the daughter of the late Richard A. and Fannie Mae Derrow Welch.
On June 6, 1954 she married Beverly B. Biller, who preceded her in death September 6, 2016.
Surviving is one son, Shawn Welch and wife Ana of California; and one granddaughter, Lucia.
Hilda was a member of the Timberville Church of the Brethren, where she taught in the kindergarten department for 20 years, and served as secretary for the Board of Administration. She was a former leader of Girl Scout Troop 20 in Timberville, and a former member of the Timberville Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. Hilda was noted for her story telling, especially her rooster and West Virginia Stories. She had served as Executive Director of the Broadway-Timberville Chamber of Commerce for 10 years, and had worked in real estate and appraising. Hilda and her husband owned and operated Treasure Chest Antique Shop in Broadway. She had also worked in the accounting department at Mutual Cold Storage, and Rockingham Poultry Market Coop for many years, and retired from Rockingham County Schools in 1997. After moving to Bridgewater Retirement Village, she and her husband traveled extensively.
Chaplain Russ Barb will conduct a graveside service 6:00 PM Friday, Sept. 29th at the Timberville Cemetery.
Friends may call anytime at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway. The casket will be closed.
