PAULINE, SC
Rev. Arthur F. Smith, Sr., beloved husband of Edwina Pruitt Smith, of Pauline, SC, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at his home.
Rev. Smith was born in Valley Falls, SC, on July 23, 1938, a son of the late Arthur L. Smith and Nellie K Batson Smith.
He was a graduate of Fruitland Bible Institute and was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. Rev. Smith was a retired Southern Baptist Pastor and had served as Pastor of various churches in North and South Carolina.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Anita Knoepfle and husband Craig of Aiken; three sons, Frank Smith of the home, Stevan Smith and wife Amanda, and Rev. Clint Smith and wife Wendy, all of Aiken; two sisters, Ruby Bearden and Cara Nell Smith; a brother, Bobby Joe Smith and wife Yvonne, all of Pauline; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Melvin Shelton. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Smith's grandsons will serve as active pallbearers.
