Joseph J Straker, age 89, of Potomac, MD, formerly of Whiting, IN passed away Friday, February 8, 2002 in Maryland. Survivors include one son, David Straker of Mobile, AL; one daughter, Joan Ann (Peter) Hazel of Potomac, MD; two grandchildren, Charles and Kathryn Straker; a sister, Vera Straker of Whiting; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Straker was preceded in death by his wife Lucile in 1999 and four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 13, 2002, 10:00 a.m. at the Owens Funeral Home, Calumet Ave & 119th St.; Whiting, with Father J.E. Kalicky, C.P.P.S. officiating. Entombment will be at the Swan Cemetery in Michigan City. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 - 5 and 7 - 9 p.m.
Mr. Straker was a longtime resident of the Calumet Region and a retired Superintendent of Standard Oil co., Whiting, IN.
