Gloria Ann (Durkin) Fidler was born in Mansfield, Ohio, to James and Dorothy Durkin. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Dr. Robert Fidler, Sr.; son Robert Jr.; daughter Pamela; granddaughter Alana; and mother Dorothy Durkin as well as sisters, Marlene Durkin and Judity Custer; brother Richard Durkin and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gloria attended Union High School and graduated in 1952. She received her nursing degree from Mansfield General Hospital School of Nursing in 1955. In 1977, she received her bachelor of science degree from Bowling Green State University and her master of science degree in 1981.
Gloria worked at Good Samaritan Hospital from 1959 to 1964, Catholic Charities and Ohio Veterans Home from 1980 to 1995 retiring as director of Secrest Nursing Home in Sandusky, Ohio. She was a firm believer in education and embraced the Montessori method. She served as a board memeber at Firelands Montessori Academy in Huron, Ohio.
Gloria died on September 11, 2009, after a courageous battle with heart disease surrounded by her family.
