Paul Fredrick Garrepy Sr., 84, of East Hartford. Paul was born April 17, 1919, in Worcester, Mass., and went home to his Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, March 14, 2004.

Paul served for fourteen years in the U.S. Navy in both World War II and in the Korean War. He was a survivor of both the USS Bates and the USS Omaha. He was discharged as a chief petty officer. Paul was a member of local 218 in Hartford, now known as local 777, where he was a steamfitter. He was a member of the Crossroads Community Cathedral in East Hartford. His favorite song was "He Touched Me."

He leaves his wife of 61 years, Avis (Benoit) Garrepy; and his three children, Paul F. Garrepy Jr. of Cape Coral, Fla., Linda H. Jarvis of Hilton Head Island, S.C., and Stephen E. Garrepy of Manchester; along with his four grandchildren, Christopher Garrepy of Manchester, Stephanie Garrepy of Cape Coral, Fla., Nichole Vaughn of White, Ga., and Seth Garrepy of Manchester. These he leaves behind as his legacy of love on earth.

A private viewing for family only will be held on Wednesday, March 17, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, with a Homecoming Service to be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow, with full military honors, in the Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford.

In lieu of flowers, Paul's family is requesting that all donations be made to the Crossroads Community Cathedral Building Fund, 1492 Silver Lane, East Hartford, CT 06118.
