Born Hanz Franz Hindermann to Johann Franz Hindermann and his wife, Elizabeth Hauser in Switzerland. Franz became a foreign consul in the United States for Austria Hungary.

Franz married the daughter of cottonseed tycoon Jules J. Aldige' on May 16, 1888 in New Orleans, Louisiana. They had the following children:
Walter Franz Hindermann (1894-1966) aka Franz Jr.
George Joseph Hindermann (1897-1969)
Anna Salome' Hindermann Hermanson (1899-1975)
Elise Marie Hindermann Fallon (1889-)La birth records has name listed as Anna Elise

Franz and Anna's daughter, Elise Marie Hindermann eloped with Paul O. Fallon of New Orleans. The Times-Picayune wrote an article of Franz Hindermann's reaction at the matrimony:

AUSTRIAN COUNSUL DISOWNS DAUGHTER WHO SECRETLY WEDS
"I Will Never See Her Again,' Says F.H. Hinderman [*sic] to Reporter.
MRS. FALLON HAPPY JUST THE SAME, SHE SAYS
Disowned by her father for marrying the man she loved is the fate of Miss Elise Marie Hinderman, now Mrs. Paul O. Fallon. Mrs. Fallon says she is happy with the husband of her choice and is satisfied to share her lot in life with him, even though the rough places might have been made easier had she remained under the parental roof.
"I do not know where she is," said Mrs. Fallon's father, Mr. Franz H. Hinderman, who is consul for Austria Hungary, when seen at his residence, 2917 Esplandade avenue, Thursday.
"I'll have nothing more to do with her and I'll never see her again," he said and after a pause, repeated the statement, "I'll have nothing more to do with her."
ELOPED TO GRETNA.
Miss Hinderman and Mr. Fallon were married by Judge Danenhauer in Gretna Tuesday night, going there with several friends in an automobile. Wednesday evening they were united in marriage, according to the rites of the Catholic church of which they are both members, by Rev. Father Heflin, of St. Francis de Sales church. The wedding was a surprise to the parents of the groom as well as to the aprents of the bride, although there was no objection to the match by the Fallons.
Instead of going to either the Fallon or the Hinderman residence when they returned to New Orleans from Pass Christian (Miss.), where they spent the night, Mrs. Fallon secured apartments at the Monteleone hotel and Thursday morning they started on a honeymoon trip.
WROTE NOTE TO PARENTS.
A note on his desk Wednesday morning told Mr. L.C. Fallon, father of the groom, of his son's wedding. It is thought Mr. and Mrs. Hinderman discovered the event in the same manner, although they refuse to say anything about the affair. Thursday morning Mr. Fallon visited his father's office, 630 Gravier street, and said he was going on a trip, but did not say where he intended to go.

**The Hindermann/Fallon wedding appears to have taken place between 1910 and 1920 (Elise is listed as his wife on his WWI draft registration card in 1918).
