The Chico Enterprise-Record (Chico, California) 05 Aug 1953, Wednesday Page 1-2: Maude Eames Dies Today At Her Home. Maude D. Eames, a Chico resident for the past 60 years, died this morning at her West First Street home. She had been in ill health for several months.
She was born in Marshalltown, Ia., Oct 8, 1882. She came to Chico in 1894 and had lived here since. After graduating from local schools she [was] married to Hugh Hamilton Fairman in Chico in 1900. He preceded here in death in 1936.
In 1942 she was married to Henry A. Eames, of Chico. Mr. Eames died in 1950. She had been employed by ladies apparel shops in Chico for many years, mostly with the J.C. Penney Company and Arnettes.
She was the organizer and sponsor for the past eight years of Camellia Club of Theta Rho, of Chico. She was a member of the State Board of Control for Theta Rho.
She also was Past Noble Grand of Beulah Rebekah Lodge, past district deputy president of District 45, The Rebekah Assembly of California, a member of the Chico Ladies Encampment, a Past Guardian Neighbor of Silver Oak Circle, Neighbors of Woodcraft, and belonged to the Woman's Benefits Association and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Hardy and Mrs. Bertha Couey, both of Chico; two grandchildren, Donald and Ronald Fairman, both of Oakland; four great grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Mary Barker of Oakland.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Huddleston Funeral Chapel. Rev. Fred Barnett, of the First Baptist Church will officiate. The Rites of the Rebekah Lodge will be given at the graveside. Interment will be in Chico Cemetery.
Members of Beulah Rebekah Lodge No. 60 are asked to assemble at Huddleston Funeral Chapel to attend the services as a group.
