Son of David Franklin McClain (born 24 May 1886 Arkansas, died Jan 1964 Arkansas) and his first wife Sophrina Callie Frazer (1888-1925) his second wife was Myrtle E. Carter, they married 14 Aug 1925 in Arkansas. He was living at Tuckerman, Jackson, Arkansas and she at Newport Jackson, Arkansas at the time of their marriage. In 1920 Myrtle is in Saline, Arkansas.

He worked for Tosco Refinery as a forman until his retirement in 1980. Survived by his wife of 60 years Pearl Janice Buchannan McClain, daughter Ramona, both of Contra Costa County, son Boyce of Clearlake, CA, 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son David of Tennessee.
