Student who was killed on board the bombed Pan Am flight 103 which exploded over Scotland killing everyone on board. "Global peace was a particular concern of Gretchen's. Various peace symbols like doves, a pink or red rose, the "Vee" sign can be seen in much of her artwork. While studying abroad at the London Art Center, Syracuse University, Gretchen painted her last oil painting. It was a self portrait of her holding a bright glove of the world. The world was threatened by two daggers, representing "evil". The painting was chosen to be displayed at the London Central School of Art, representing the sensitivity and vision of an aspiring artist. Sadly, the life-size work accompanied Gretchen aboard Pan Am 103, but was never found after the disaster. As we all search for meaning in the aftermath of this tragedy, we can begin by saying that Gretchen lived for peace and Gretchen died in the quest for work peace."-Robert Fellowes
