Francis is 35 and still a carpenter. His wife's name is listed as Amelia and her age is 36 and have five children listed at this time: Harris C, 14; Mary C?; Francis M, 9; William, 2; and Marcus, 8 months.
MILITARY: Francis was serving on the Atlanta City Council when the Civil War started and he left to join the Confederate Army in Feb 1862. He was elected 1st Lt., Co. I, GA Volunteers, Stovall's Brigade, Clayton's Div. on 2/22/1862. He was taken prisoner in Vicksburg, MS on Jul 4, 1863 and he resigned, Special Order #244, from the army on Sep 25, 1863.
Francis C House was a member of the Fulton Blues, Company I, 42d Regiment of the Georgia Volunteer Infantry. He enlisted as "1st Lieutenant March 4, 1862. He appeared on the census 1870 Georgia in Atlanta, Fulton, GA. 1870 Georgia Census, Francis is 48, a carpenter with a value of $2000 of real estate and $200 of personal property. Permelia is also 48 and her occupation is listed as keeping house. They have three children at home; Henry, 18; Willie, 13; and Marcus. Henry lists his occupation as a carpenter and his value of personal property at $100.
