Nancy Hicks was the daughter of Rhodes & Lucinda Shrewberry Garth from Wayne County, Kentucky. She married Wiley Hicks, in about 1843. She and Wiley migrated to Missouri sometime before their last son, John A. Hicks, was born October 8, 1859. John A. Hicks married Mary Elizabeth Young who is also buried in the Hicks Cemetery.

Nancy and Wiley had the following children:
James Alfred Hicks
Sarah Ann E. Hicks
Shelby Franklin Hicks
Jacob W. Hicks
William D. Hicks
Joseph Greenberry Hicks
John A. Hicks

On January 9,1881, Wiley married a very young lady, Mary Josephine Orr. Wiley then sold the farm on which the cemetery is located, and moved to Arkansas, along with several of his chldren. His son, Shelby Franklin Hicks stayed in the area and made his home in Schell City, Venron County, Missouri, where he and some of his family are buried.
