Madeline May Canterbury Beaver, 86, of 231 McBerry St., Beckley, died 10:30
p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at her home following complications of Parkinson's
disease.

Born June 12, 1913, at Crany, she was the daughter of the late David Bert
Canterbury and Nancy Roberta Stinnett.

Mrs. Beaver was a former manager of a dry cleaner and laundromat. She was a
member of Memorial Baptist Church and had been a 45-year resident of Beckley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Berlin C. Beaver, in 1954; a
sister, Berna Harvey, in 1979; a brother, Jack R. Canterbury, in 1981; and
two sisters, Ruth Greer in 1998 and Gladys Brooks in 1999.

Survivors include a son, Berlin B. Beaver and his wife, Linda, of Beckley;
two daughters, Sue Helen Beaver of Beckley, who cared for her, and Hilda
Beaver Ingram and her husband, Blair, of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C.; a brother,
Judge Thomas Canterbury and his wife, Jane, of Daniels; two sisters, Marie
Canterbury of Beckley and Georgia Powell and her husband, Joseph, of Decatur,
Ga.; three grandchildren, Robin Thomas and her husband, John, Lynne Little
and her husband, Ronnie, and Brian Beaver and his wife, Christy; and four
great-grandchildren, B.J. Beaver, Austin Beaver, Eve Little and Levi Little.

Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel with
the Rev. Paul Blizard officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial
Gardens, Beckley.

Friends may call one hour before the services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
