Sue Helen Beaver, 56, of Beckley, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, following a courageous fight with cancer.

Born March 10, 1951, in Richwood, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Berlin Clarence Beaver and Madeline Mae Beaver. She was the granddaughter of the late Bert and Nancy Canterbury of Bolt, W.Va.

Sue earned a Bachelor's degree from Concord College and held a Master's Degree from College of Graduate Studies. She spent her career working in Financial Aid departments at higher education institutions in our region including Valley College, National Institute of Technology, Mountain State University, and WVU Tech. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Beckley. She was a precious sister and aunt and will be dearly missed.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving sister and caregiver, Hilda; a brother, Berlin Beaver and his wife Linda of Beckley; a niece, Lynne Little and her husband Ronnie of Elizabethton, Tenn.; a nephew, Brian Beaver and his wife Christy of Ansted, W.Va.; a niece, Robin Thomas and her husband John of Pennsylvania; a great-niece, Eve Little; and three great-nephews, B.J. Beaver, Austin Beaver, and Levi Little.

Brian Beaver, Ronnie Little, Mike Goddard, Bill Lester, Guy Hensley, and Glenn Smith will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Bowers Hospice House at Beckley, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25801.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, with Pastor Paul Blizard officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity.
