Born: November 27, 1926
Died: March 27, 2010
B.F. "Shorty" Conn, age 83, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2010. A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Roger Blocker officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery immediately following the service. B.F. Conn, known by his friends as "Shorty," was born on Nov. 27, 1926, to John Singleton Conn and Eva Mae Davis Conn and raised on the family farm in Hext, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he received an honorable discharge in November 1946. During his younger years, he worked with a seismic and geophysical survey company. He was later employed building atomic missile silos in the Abilene, Texas, area. After moving to San Angelo in 1963, he worked as a plumber for Wooten Plumbing Company and later owned and operated his own plumbing business, Conn Plumbing. Mr. Conn sold his plumbing business to become employed with the City of San Angelo, as chief plumbing inspector, where he worked until his retirement in 1989. B.F. especially loved the outdoors. Before his health failed, he spent many hours working in his yard enjoying the beauty and wonders of nature, which he so dearly loved. He also spent many enjoyable hours utilizing his God given talent for repairing equipment. Even though B.F. was a small man in statue, his son and daughter will always be grateful to him for his outstanding willpower, strength and endurance. He always encouraged them that no matter how difficult the task, that together we could accomplish it. B.F. was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Odessa Rutledge and Velma Davis; and two brothers, Ernest Conn and R.C. Conn. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Myra Conn of San Angelo; his daughter, Beverly Albrecht and husband Ray of Terrell, Texas; his son, John Conn and wife Debbie of San Angelo; his sister, Dorothy Key of Big Spring, Texas; his grandchildren, Shane Hall of Mount Belvieu, Texas, Brent Hall of Abilene, Texas, Chelsie Benson of San Angelo and Lindsey Conn of San Angelo; and seven great-grandchildren. The family wishes to extend their heart felt thanks to Dr. John T. Granaghan and his staff, Dr. Michael Blanc and his staff and for the many hours of love and exceptional care provided by the staff of Med Way Home Health Care. Donations may be made to Meals for the Elderly
