They had nine children: Ida Louisa Gerbron Sommerer(1865-1967);Emily Drusilla Gerbron Benner (1868-1908;Joseph Charles Gerbron (1870-1962); Annie Gerbron (1872-1873); Irene Gerbron Herzog(1878-1915);Bertha Mabel Gerbron Moyer (1882-1970);Alfred Theodore Gerbron(1887-1967);Walter Herman Gerbron (1892-1982);Marion Esther Gerbron (1896-1897). They raised an orphaned child Elsie Kuhn (1901-1975).

In the summer she took in boarders, mostly artists and musicians. One notable was Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) who was a friend of her musician brother, Herman Kleinman.
