Political Leader. Served as Republican Committeewoman from Maryland, and as executive director of Women's Division of Republican National Committee. She helped rally women's vote for Eisenhower in 1952 Presidential election, and was appointed assistant national chairman of the Republican National Committee in 1953. Appointed Undersecretary of Health, Education and Welfare in 1958. She later served as executive vice-chairman of Older Americans Advisory Committee to HEW in 1972, and as chairman of National Council on Aging.
