My mother married Arthur Lewis Gowen,
who adopted me and I was raised with the surname of Gowen.
In 1930, at age sixteen, Arthur suggested that I marry his son, Raymond, and that he would help us out financially. As we knew each other and were only friends, we thought this idea over and considering as how the times were tough and the stock market had crashed, we decided to marry.
Raymond and I were married for 20 years until I divorced him. Raymond had the same cruel abusive personality as his father, and was mean to his boys.
After 16 years of single bliss, I married John Wesley Shaw. We resided in Perris, California
in a nice large mobile home. After 20 years
of marriage, John died. In 1988 I sold the mobile home and moved to Westminster in Orange County, California.
My sons, Richard and William, are kind men, and do not have the cruel personality as the others did.
