Mrs. Lillian Edna Buckingham Abernathy, 79, of 618 Fairview Avenue, Frederick, Md., formerly of Scenery Hill, died Monday, May 1, 1967, at 8 pm in the Washington Manor Nursing Home following a five-month illness.
Mrs. Abernathy was born September 3, 1887, at Clarksville, the daughter of Thomas C. and Mary Ann Cox Buckingham.
She was a graduate of Penn State University and during her younger life, taught in many of the area school districts.
Upon her retirement, she was an instructor at Mansfield State College.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Frederick and the Frederick Council of United Church Women.
Surviving is one brother, Samuel C. Buckingham, of Scenery Hill, R. D. A.
Her husband, Walter J. Abernathy, three brothers and five sisters preceded her in death.
