Doris I. Inbody, 89, of Goshen, died Friday evening, October 30, 2009, at her home of complications from Alzheimer's which she had suffered from the last eight to ten years.
She was born in Milford, Nebraska, on February 10, 1920, to Joseph and Mattie (Troyer) Burkey. She married Dale D. Inbody on March 23, 1957 at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Goshen. He preceded her in death on June 26, 2005.
A longtime Goshen resident, Mrs. Inbody was a retired registered nurse. She graduated from Bethel Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in 1951 and had worked in doctors' offices, as a surgical nurse and in the obstetrics department at Goshen General Hospital. She retired in 1980.
She was a longtime member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church and was very involved in the United Methodist Women. She volunteered at Oaklawn and with Meals on Wheels. She was a member of Partner's in Prayer and Gideons International. She had also helped her husband run the family farm.
She is survived by a son, Randall J. Inbody of Elkhart; a daughter, Carla (Patrick) Bailey of Goshen, five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Lucinda Bachman and Betty Mae (Mel) Yoder, both of Goshen; and a brother, Arnold (Phyllis) Burkey of Milford, Nebraska.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Thomas Dale Inbody on January 16, 1978; and a brother, Kenneth Burkey.
Friends may call 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, November 1, and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Monday at the funeral home.
A 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 2, 2009, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Mike Tarner of St. Mark's United Methodist Church will officiate.
Burial will follow in Elkhart Prairie Cemetery, Goshen.
