A. B. Walker -- Quitman, LA
A. B. Walker, 91, died Saturday, October 30, 1999, at his residence in Quitman. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. at Sweetwater Baptist Church with Rev. Stuart Toms and Rev. C. S. Martin officiating. Burial followed in the Sweetwater Baptist Church under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Survivors include his wife, Mazie Lou Walker of Quitman; two daughters and sons-in-law, Floyce and Michael Smith of Arcadia and Bessie and Henry Williams of Vernon; six sons and daughters-in-law, A. V. and Allie Walker of Vernon, David G. and Shirley Walker, Max and Tommie Walker, Ralph and Teresa Walker, and Royce Walker all of Quitman, and Winston and Nancy Walker of Ruston; thirty-three grandchildren, forty-two great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Papaw was named after Doctor A. B. Kidd, but since they were never told what the initials stood for was Only named A.B. When he went into the Army (for 2 months) he was given the name of Alvin Bard for their records. This was never on any other official document.
