Daughter of Charles Heathcote Hawkins and Electra Prior. Married Charles Henry Abrams in 1872. Mother of Benjamin Franklin, Ralph Squires, Venie Bell, Evie and Aury Charles.

In 1860, Gertrude Hawkins, aged 3, could be found living in Brookhaven, post office Patchogue in 1860 with Martha Prior, widowed, aged 52, perhaps her grandmother, and Martha's children Martin A. Prior, aged 19, a bayman, John H. Prior, aged 16, a bayman, Rebecca Prior, aged 13, and Gertrude Prior, aged 10.

Obituary - Mrs. Gertrude Abrams, 78 years old, widow of Charles Abrams, member of a very well known family in this section, died Wednesday at her home on Blue Point Avenue. She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Harry Beare, and three sons, Ralph, Aury, and Frank Abrams. The funeral is to be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Blue Point Baptist church, the Rev. Joseph Springer officiating and the interment will be made in the Blue Point Cemetery.
