Mr. Watters drown during one of the worst floods in the history of Lawrence Co., Tennessee. He was at the bridge on South Locust Avenue when he lost his life.
It had been about one hundred years since a flood of this magnitude had crippled Lawrence County. The 1998 flood also claimed another life in addition to that of Mr. Watters.
Mr. Watters was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U. S. Army.
