Col. Andrew Jackson McCoy/McKoy was the son of William (1795-1849) and Joanna (Hussey) (1805-1882) McKoy.

He was 1st. Lieutenant Regimental Quartermaster for the Wisconsin Calvary June 3, 1861. Captain of the Commissary of Subsistence Volunteers, May 20, 1863. Brevet Major and Lieutenant Colonel Volunteers, March 13, 1865, for meritorious services in his Department, and Colonel, Volunteers, March 13, 1865 for meritorious services in the Subsistence Department. Honorable mustered out Aug. 3, 1865.

Co-founder of McCoy & Underwood. This was a "firm of live-stock commission merchants" with D. S. Underwood and Frank McCoy.

He was married by Thomas B. Thayer a Universalist Clergyman, to Frances Ann Bigelow, in Lowell, Middlesex Co., Mass., Oct. 4, 1851, she was the daughter of Lewis and Jane Sophia (Taft) Bigelow, born March 25, 1833 in Winchendon, Worcester Co., Mass., and died sometime after June 1900. His marriage record says he was born in Lyndon, Caledonia Co., Vt. and was a Trader, living in Nashua, N.H.

CHILDREN: Lewis Albert, Arthur William, Frank Wesley, Fred Beckwith, and Nelly N. McCoy/McKoy.
