"She was born in Modoc county, California, on Jan. 1, 1888, and came to Chico about 40 years ago.
"Surviving besides her husband Fred D. Coon, are one daughter, Gladys Coon of Chico, one brother, Bernal Sherman of Oroville, and two sisters, Mrs. Irilla Hannis and Mrs. Katherine Perkiss both of Chico.
"Friends are invited to attend the funeral services to be held on Monday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the funeral chapel of Black, Johnson and Brusie. Rev. Harris Pillsbury of the Bidwell Memorial Presbyterian church will officiate. Interment will follow in the Chico cemetery."

Chico Enterprise, Chico, CA, Monday Evening, January 10, 1944: "Services Held For Mrs. F. Coon. Many friends and relatives assembled this afternoon at 3:30 in the funeral chapel of Black, Johnson and Brusie to attend the funeral services conducted by the Rev. Harris Pillsbury for Mrs. Roxie Coon, wife of Fred Coon well known rancher of the Ord Ferry district. Mrs. Coon died at the Enloe hospital Saturday after a brief illness.
"There were many beautiful floral offerings banking the casket and chapel walls, and Mrs. Fred Byerly sang 'In the Garden' and 'Nearer My God to Thee' accompanied at the chapel organ by Mrs. Lillian Cook.
'Interment followed in the Chico cemetery with the following friends acting as casket escorts: J.H. Priel, Shelley Gray, Harold Hoobler, Kirk Zumwalt, Home Fraser, and John McManus."
