Funeral for Joey E. Holmes, 50, of Hartselle will be Sunday, January 9, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Penn and the Rev. Terry Napier officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Holmes, who died Friday, January 7, 2011, at Cullman Regional Medical Center, was born February 10, 1960, in Morgan County. He was an electrical supply salesman for Gresco. He was a member of the Falkville Lions Club, Morgan County Cattlemen's Association, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he served on the building committee and as a Trustee. He was a 1978 graduate of Falkville High School. His father, Emmett O. Holmes, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Lasanna Tapscott Holmes; stepson, Thomas Cole Alexander and wife, Brittany, of Hartselle; his mother, Janie Mae Fitzgerald Holmes of Falkville; three brothers, Allen Holmes (Jan) of Hartselle, Gerry Holmes (Linda) of Falkville and Greg Holmes (Pam) of Massey; two sisters, Linda Alldredge (Dwight) of Falkville and Debbie Cummings of Decatur; grandson, Bryant Cole Alexander; and nine nephews and seven nieces.
Pallbearers will be Mike Holmes, Rodney Holmes, Jeff Holmes, Chris Wallace, Mickey Wallace, Myron Tapscott and David Holmes.
