Jerry was the son of Louis Castor/Cassista and Mary Martin/Martel. His brother, Louis Castor, Jr. murdered his wife, on 31 May 1899 in Keene, Cheshire, New Hampshire. After the murder, Jerry and at least one of his brothers changed their names to Curtis because they were so ashamed about what their brother did.
