Mrs. Phillips was the daughter of James P. Cutright (1865-1956) and Edith Serenda Yeager Cutright (1868-1946). She was married to Ralph Phillips (1901-1966); son of George M. Phillips and Vinnie Rowan Phillips. Laura and Ralph had one son; Arthur Phillips (1921-1992). Laura was a homemaker who enjoyed baking, gardening, and quilting. Mrs. Phillips was a member of the Phillips Chapel United Methodist Church. In September of 2007, the old Norton School Bell was placed in the steeple of Phillips Chapel U.M. Church at Jimtown. This 28 inch diameter steel alloy bell, cast by the C.S. Bell Company of Hillsboro, Ohio on 07/08/1921, was presented to the church as a memorial gift by the family of the late Ralph Phillips, Laura Cutright Phillips, Arthur Phillips, and Mildred Broschart Phillips.
