Both Adam Flath and his wife Barbara Ann Betz were natives of Germany. They met and were married in Watertown, N.Y. moving to Toronto soon after. Here Mr. Flath was employed as a cabinet maker in the firm of Jacques and Hayes, and here their first two children were born. In 1854 they moved to the Queen's Bush. They purchased the 100 acre farm at the first side road on the 10th of Maryborough from Mr. John Segsworth on which 3 acres were cleared.
