Claude Thomas Bell is the fourth child born to Thomas Lawson Bell and Sarah Jane Mortimer. His father died 3 months after he was born. Claude grew up on a farm in the Luray area of Henderson County, TN.
He married Ruby Hildenbrandt on March 8, 1921. The couple continued to live in the Luray and Beech Bluff areas. Nine children were born to this marriage: James, Edward, Wesley, Edith, Peggy, Bettie, Bobbie, Tennie and Jerry.
In the 1940's Claude went to work for the Bemis Cotton Mill and the family moved to the Bemis/Jackson area.
Claude died April 28, 1952 at age 51. He is buried in Ridgecrest Cemetery, Jackson, TN.
