Funeral services for Prentiss H. Pierce were held Oct. 1, 1976 from the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Harden's Chapel Cemetery. He was 83 years old. He died September 24, 1976 as a result of a tractor accident on his farm in the Harden's Chapel Community.

A veteran of World War I, Mrs. Pierce was honored with Legion ceremonial rites as a part of the burial service. A honor guard of veterans of World War I and World War II participated in the service. A flag of the United States of America which he served was presented to his family. He was a member of Hardens Chapel Methodist Church.

Survivors included one son, John Pierce of Fulton; four daughters, Mrs. Ruby Bargiacchi of Memphis, Mrs. Ruth Howell of Fulton, Mrs. Rayoma Ferguson of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Robbie Limer of Miami, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Essie Allred of Atlanta, Ga.; eleven grandchildren.
