"Fatal Horseback Ride"

Miss Evelyn Tanner Mortally Injured in Falling From Fractious Animal"

As the result of a shocking accident, the body of Miss Evelyn Tanner was taken to Salt Lake from Cokeville, Wyoming. Miss Tanner was 16 years of age, the daughter of Mrs. Lucy Tanner of Cokeville, and was well known in Salt Lake, having been a recent visitor there.

Wednesday evening of last week at about 8 o'clock, Miss Tanner, in company with a number of girl friends, went for a horseback ride in the country about Cokeville. Whether she had a fracious horse and was thrown or whether the horse stumbled and gell is not known; but at any rate, Miss Tanner struck the ground with her head and was rendered unconscious. She never regained her senses.

Miss Tanner was attended by a local physician and on Saturday, Dr. C.C. Snyder, an uncle, was notified of the desperate nature of her condition. Knowing full well that he could not render any assistance at Cokeville, wher there is no hospital, nor accomodations such as the case required, Dr. Snyder instructed those in attendance to take the girl to Salt Lake, meanwhile having sent to Cokeville, Miss Lydia Lantz, a trained nuirse.

The patient was placed on a train at 1 o'clock Monday morning, but her condition was such that she died before reaching Granger at noon. Her mother and a number of her relatives were present when the end came.

County Commissioner J.A. Back of Piney was present and assisted in placing Miss Tanner's remains in the casket.

The grief-strick mother has the sympthy of the people of this county.
