"Mrs. Coon was born March 15, 1891, and was active in civic affairs in Durham and Butte County. She served twice on the grand jury, was twice president of the Durham Women's Club in which she also held a district office, was director of the Durham American Red Cross, and was active in the Durham PTA.
"In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Coon is survived by one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
"Funeral services will be conducted in the chapel of the Brusie Funeral Home Friday at 11:00 a.m. following which interment will take place in the Chico Cemetery by the side of her husband.
"Friends who desire may contribute to the American Cancer Society... or to the Durham Community Church Building Fund."
