According to her sister-in-law Dorothy (wife of Orla Sharp), Ruby and Elmer met at the home of Thelma Taylor Brown (Elmer's twin sister). Ruby was friends with Vivian Brown one of Thelma's daughters. They got married at he Justice of the Peace in Rockport, Aransas County, TX on May 7, 1942.
