Della Summers Austin, 93 of Harrisburg, died Friday, May 24, 2002 at Carolinas Medical Center-University. There will be a funeral service 2PM Tuesday, May 28, 2002 at McEwen Funeral Service, Charlotte Chapel with the Rev. Dr. John Harrill officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 7-8:30 PM at the funeral home.
Della Lee Austin was born August 13, 1908 in Mecklenburg County, daughter of the late Robert E. Lee Summers and Cora Lee Keller Summers. She was a lifelong member of Shamrock Dr. Baptist Church.
Along with her parents, Della was preceded in death by her husband, W.T. Austin; and her children, James and Dorothy.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Austin of Harrisburg, Donald Austin of Charlotte, Bill Austin of Matthews, Roy Austin of Rock Hill, and Richard Austin of Ft. Mill; daughters, Nancy McLeod of Harrisburg and Carol Austin of Harrisburg; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Stewart Tucker for the tender loving care provided to Mrs. Austin.
