H. P. Henshaw, assistant to vice-president of the Chesapeake & Ohio and the Pere Marquette, has been appointed assistant vice-president, reporting to the vice-president—Law, with headquarters as before at Huntington, W. Va. Mr. Henshaw was born on December 21, 1886, near Bunker Hill, W. Va., attended the public schools and Shepherd College at Shepherdstown, W. Va., and was graduated from Shenandoah Valley Military Academy at Winchester, Va., in 1907. During the summer of 1906 he worked at the United States Marine biological laboratory on Pivers Island (near Beaufort, N. C.) and in 1907 he enrolled in the West Virginia University school of engineering. In June, 1908, Mr. Henshaw obtained a position with the United States geographical survey, making topographical maps. From 1918 to 1924 he was a member of the sales organization of the fertilizer department of Swift & Company, from which position he resigned to go with the Washington Alexander & Cook Company, a subsidiary of the Virginia-Carolina Chemical Company. Mr. Henshaw was elected to the West Virginia house of delegates from Berkeley county, W. Va., in 1916. In 1920 he was elected to the state senate from the fifteenth district and was twice re-elected. For three terms he was minority leader of the senate. From 1931 to March, 1933, he was a member of the West Virginia road commission. Mr. Henshaw became secretary of the West Virginia Railway Association at Charleston, W. Va., in September, 1933, and continued in this position when he was appointed assistant to vice-president of the Chesapeake & Ohio at Huntington, in January, 1936. In July, 1937, Mr. Henshaw's jurisdiction was extended to include the Pere Marquette on matters pertaining to public relations.

[HARRY PRESTON HENSHAW, (Democrat), of Bunker Hill, Berkeley county, member of the State Road Commission, was born in Berkeley county on December 21, 1886. He was educated in the public schools, of that county and then attended Shenandoah Military Academy, at Winchester, Virginia, and West Virginia University. He has been for years a successful farmer and fruit grower in the Eastern Panhandle, that section of the state so well known horticulturally. He has had a long and distinguished political career, which began with his election to the House of Delegates from Berkeley county in 1916. He was elected to the Senate from the Fifteenth District in 1920 and served through six consecutive sessions, beginning with 1921 and ending with the session of 1931, on the last day of which he resigned upon appointment as a member of the State Road Commission. Conservative in his views and deliberate in action, he was an influential member of the Senate and in several sessions, his party's floor leader. He has actively advocated and supported, both in and out of the legislature, the good roads development of the state, is acquainted with the road situation in the state and is well qualified for his membership on the Commission. He is a member of the Presbyterian Church, Sons of American Revolution, Beta Theta Pi fraternity, an Elk, Mason and Lodge of Perfection.]
