Ansem was born on the family farm in Erdahl Township in Grant County on Dec. 18, 1922, to Vance and Altha (Kuchenbecker) Ackerson.
He attended country school and graduated from high school in Elbow Lake in 1940.
On Dec. 30, 1945, Ansem and Audrey L. Melby were married at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. They lived on the family farm and he farmed there for more than 60 years.
As a member of the Erdahl Lutheran Church, Ansem served on the church council and was township supervisor for 24 years.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing in Minnesota and Montana, gardening, bowling, and he and Audrey also enjoyed traveling.
Ansem had a love of life, the great outdoors, and his family.
He had a kind heart and a willingness to help anyone who was in need.
His love of farming ran deep as he was still out on a tractor into his 80s.
Survivors include his wife Audrey; daughters, Cindy (Delmont) Allen of Mayville, N.D., and Vicki Danielowski of Montgomery; five grandchildren, Stephani (Chad) Blehr, Shana (Jason) Stevens, Rachael Brown, Jennie (Marshall) Coleman, and Laura (Doug) Miller; 11great-grandchildren, Matthew, Nicholas and McKenna Blehr, Jaden and McKaylyn Stevens, Taliah and Jaxson Brown, Mitchell and Brynley Coleman, and Mashae and Mavrick Miller; and two brothers, Orvin (Jean) Ackerson of Ashby, and Jacky (Madonna) Ackerson of Georgia. Ansem's son-in-law, Delmont Allen, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, in Wadena.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and two brothers-in-law.
