On January 8, 2011, he peacefully died at Bear Lake Memorial Hospital.
Parley attended grade school in Georgetown, Idaho, and graduated in the year of 1957 from Montpelier High School. During high school, he worked at the Allen ranch on the Blackfoot River. After high school, he went to work for the railroad.
Later, Parley joined the Air Force, became a master sergeant and made a successful career in the military.
Parley came home on leave in 1958, and met the love of his life, Gail Thompson. They were married on October 17, 1959. After they were married, they started their life together in Yaak, Montana.
During his 20 years in the military they were stationed throughout the United States and Newfoundland. After the military, he worked at Bailey Creek as a maintenance man for a year. He worked for Monsanto for 14 years, then retired.
Parley is survived by his wife, Gail Hayes; son, Allen Hayes, of Pocatello; daughter, Marie Hayes, of Georgetown; granddaughter, Kristen Hayes, of Georgetown; grandsons, Dalton Hayes and Brett Haney, of Nampa; four brothers, David Hayes, of Billings, Montana, Lee Hayes, of Pocatello, Brian (Karen) Hayes, of Georgetown, and Milt (Carol) Hayes, of Nounan; two brothers-in-law, Bill (Lawana) Hill, of Montpelier, and Brent (Brenda) Thompson, of Pocatello; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2011, in the Georgetown LDS Chapel at 1 p.m. Friends may call prior to services from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Interment will be in the Georgetown Cemetery.
