Shirley L. Sackett, 88, Valley View Home, died Sat., Jan. 8, 2011 at the home. She was born in Altoona to Chester & Verna Moyer. She married John Melvin Sackett on April 9, 1943, at East End United Methodist Church and he died May 14, 1996. Survived by sons: Gary & wife, Debbie, Terry & wife, Theresa, and Dale & companion, Barb, all of Altoona; 2 grandchildren: Marc Sackett & wife, Rachael, and Jamie Sackett; 4 gr. grandchildren; brother, Darrel Moyer & wife, Ellie, of Altoona; niece, Dawn Riley and nephew, Eric Moyer. Shirley was a 1940 graduate of Altoona High School. She had been employed as a seamstress in the Drapery Dept. of Gable's Department Store. She was a member of East End United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir. Shirley enjoyed cooking, gardening and playing cards. Good Funeral Home @ Alto-Reste Park Cemetery. Interment, Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
